I began my study of martial arts when I was just out of high school, and continued to be involved in the promotion of sport karate worldwide for nearly 30 years. As a member of the USA Karate-do Federation, which is a part of the US Olympic Committee, I was an international referee from 1997 to 2005, and traveled yearly to martial arts tournaments worldwide as an official. I hold a black belt in two styles of Japanese Karate: Shotokan, and Wado Ryu. I have broken boards, bricks, and a couple of bones (mine), but I have never seriously hurt anyone and I've never been in a fight (since high school anyway) which is the real point of taking karate in the first place. If you ask, I'll show you some of my medals. |
As with everything else I do, I spent a lot of time creating artwork for karate clubs, associations, and just plain fun. Here is a series of posters on the history of karate I created for martial arts exhibits at various venues around the country. The actual size is 36x 24.
